Gempa 6,6 SR mengguncang Kepulauan Aru, Maluku, Sabtu (26/1/2019), jam 17.12 WIT. Berdasar info, gempa itu dirasa kuat getarannya di Kota Dobo serta sekelilingnya.
Kuatnya getaran gempa membuat masyarakat cemas serta berhamburan dari rumah-rumah mereka. “Kita semua lari keluar dari rumah, semua cemas sebab getarannya begitu kuat sekali,” kata Demy, seseorang masyarakat Dobo waktu dihubungi dari Ambon, Sabtu (26/1/2019).
Ia menyebutkan, getaran gempa pun berjalan lumayan lama yaitu seputar 10 detik. Keadaan itu membuat masyarakat cemas serta lari ke tempat yang dipandang aman. “Tadi getarannya kami rasakan lumayan lama, hampir 10 detik,” kata ia.
Berdasar pada data dari Badan Meteorologi Klimatologi dan Geofosika (BMKG) Stasiun Ambon, gempa bermagnitudo 6,6 SR itu berpusat pada koordinat 5,51 lintang selatan serta 133,81 bujur timur atau berada di laut dengan jarak 51 km arah barat laut Kota Dobo, Kepualauan Aru pada kedalaman 10 km di bawah permukaan laut.
Kepala Badan Penanggulangan Musibah (BPBD) Kepulauan Aru yang di konfirmasi berkaitan gempa itu menjelaskan, sampai sekarang pihaknya masih tetap lakukan monitor di lapangan berkaitan efek rusaknya yang diakibatkan gempa.
“Sementara rekan-rekan sedang mengumpulkan data rusaknya di lapangan jadi mohon sabar,” tutur ia.
